4,171 allegations of police misconduct by the NYPD were closed without investigation, as of today.

Effective January 1, 2024, citing a record volume of complaints and ongoing budget constraints, the Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) suspended investigation of several categories of allegation under a policy it calls Strategic Resource Allocation Determination (SRAD). No finding was reached in any of these complaints. They were neither substantiated nor cleared.

These notices are reminders of the allegations, not accusations. No rule required that the officer be told a complaint was filed, so most have never been informed that any of this exists. The records are public under the 2020 repeal of Civil Rights Law 50-a.
